There are currently more than 20,000 objects in Earth's orbit. Some of these objects are operational satellites performing critical civil, scientific, and military missions. Tracking, monitoring, controlling and defending these satellites is of key national interest. The Information Integration and Decision Support Group develops the mission critical decision support tools needed to perform key functions such as rapid event detection and dynamic scheduling of assets in order to develop courses of action for the Space Warfighter. The decision support tools are driven by integrating information from various sensors, sources, and systems.


We are seeking a business manager to assist in executing the business needs of our large group and overseeing our $20M budget. Roles and responsibilities focus upon business management of the Group’s financial portfolio and administrative operations. Responsibilities include development, analysis, monitoring and reporting on program plans, spend plans, and financial reports for a diverse set of programs. These will include several small to medium sized programs within Group 93 and in partnership with multiple groups across the Division and Laboratory. These programs have varied sponsorship – DoD, Intel, Internal Line/Allocated—and fund type –RDT&E, O&M, Procurement--, as well as cross group/division coordination. As an integral member of the Group 93 Management team with oversight for administrative operations, the business manager must work closely with the Group and Division Offices to manage procurements, personnel logistics, property, and other business administrative needs.

The Group Business Manager must act as the focal point for cost estimating/ proposal preparation and new program packages, anticipated funding updates, authorization of budget expenditures and status of program/group health. A particular emphasis must be placed upon financial analysis (cost, performance, discrepancies, schedule, trends, etc.), STE and ceiling management and program execution. Will manage monthly sponsor and other financial reporting requirements to include a variety of roll- up reporting for both the Group and Division Offices. Will serve as front-line contact to sponsors for financial matters. Responsibilities also include management of shopping carts, to include subcontractor procurements, special projects, and other miscellaneous financial and operational activities to support the Group. Will act as the Group’s space coordinator, monitoring all space/construction projects through to the completion state. Will serve as SAP expert/Certified User; focal point to Departments and Service Groups. 


BS degree in Business with finance concentration, or equivalent required. MS/MBA is preferred.

Minimum of five years’ experience in budget development and administration of government projects and a working knowledge of contractual documents.

Must possess an understanding of transactional accounting, financial and government processes with strong analytical and estimating techniques.

Competence with business/ financial systems and computer-based financial management tools. Experience with Microsoft Office with proficiency in advanced Excel functions. Experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent and basic project management experience is desired.

Familiarity with SAP desired.
