Custodian/Utility Worker

Wednesday through Friday 2:00 p.m. to 12 midnight, Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.


General labor including but not limited to: digging, lifting and carrying heavy loads, moving furniture (including minor assembly and disassembly as related to the move), small objects, pallets and equipment. Loading and unloading trucks will use hand tools and occasionally the use of special tools such as air or electric hammers, drills and paving brakers will be required. Will open crates, install posts and pre-drilled signs, remove and reattach doors with pins, perform ground and landscape work as assigned, road repairs and masonry tasks. All necessary work in conjunction with cleaning the buildings, these duties will include but not be limited to: sweeping, dry mopping, washing and waxing floors, emptying trash receptacles, cleaning lavatory facilities, cleaning spills and water resulting from leaks or floods, deliver custodial equipment and supplies as required, shovel snow on a mandatory basis as a supplement to the utility work force. Paint sign posts, rails, light posts, snow stakes, outdoor furniture and the outside of buildings. Work will include performing all minor vehicle maintenance such as cleaning, topping off fluids, replacing light bulbs and wind shield wipers. Participation in snow removal is a condition of employment. Will provide 24-hour emergency response as necessary to support snow removal operations and emergency.


High School graduate or equivalent and, required to have at least one (1) year of applicable experience are required. The applicant must work as a team member, and work with minimal supervision. Physical ability to lift and handle heavy construction materials, supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs on a daily basis is required. Individual must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward positions as well as climb ladders, stairs and staging. Valid driver's license required. Participation in snow removal is a condition of employment and must obtain (within 15 months) and maintain a License to operate hoisting machinery (520 CMR 620).  Commercial Driver's License (CDL) desired.   Construction laborer experience and the able to identify various construction materials are highly desired.
