The Artificial Intelligence Technology and Systems group builds algorithms, technologies, and systems to operate in information environments including multimedia and cyber. Group members have developed advanced AI-based technologies to achieve world-leading performance in automatic speech, language, and speaker recognition for automatically identifying the words and language spoken and the speaker. We have successfully applied natural language processing techniques to automatically identify the authors, languages, topics, and entities (such as people, places, organizations, and events) in the content of communications. Our human-network AI technologies automatically extract information from speech, text, image, and video data combined with network communications to infer network and coordinated activities. The group also leads the Laboratory in creating and delivering impactful AI technology to improve the cyber posture of the nation. We have built large-scale operational prototypes as well as rapid-response capabilities against urgent threats in cyber space. Job Description:

The Artificial Intelligence Technology and Systems Group is seeking a candidate to work with our team on research, technology development and transfer, and applications in end-to-end artificial-intelligence systems. Focus areas include cyber, multimedia, video, image, graphs, and text. Particular emphasis is given to robust and resilient systems taking noise source and adversarial factors into consideration.

 

From the MIT Lincoln Laboratory field site in Ft Meade, MD, you will be immersed in the missions of our key government sponsors. Our technology and expertise enable the full lifecycle of technology development for AI from data analysis, creation of AI-enabled analytics, to deployment of operational systems via our sponsor’s mission teams. As a member of the group, you will communicate your research with domain and non-domain experts and lay-people via public presentations, written reporting, scientific writing, and sponsor interactions. Our field site offers a great opportunity to engage with our sponsors as trusted subject matter experts and you will shape key decisions for the defense of our nation.

Requirements:

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. In lieu of a PhD, a MS and 3 yrs. exp. will be considered. Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and accomplishments in machine learning and pattern recognition. Demonstrable experience in the creation of deployable software prototypes based on research and/or shaping national strategy in AI-cyber. Five or more years of directly related experience. Established publication record or significant leadership over government-initiatives is expected.
