Group 75—Systems Engineering
The Systems Engineering Group leads payload development for a variety of spaceborne, airborne, and terrestrial systems. Systems engineering expertise includes systems "thinking" and systems management for complete payloads. Systems thinking involves the consideration of uncertainty, risk, complexity, interrelationships, trade studies, requirements definition, and field testing. Management elements include requirements capture, integration and test, verification and validation, interface control, and mission assurance. The group's emphasis is on balancing flexibility to maximize payload performance with rigor to ensure quality and robustness throughout the program lifecycle.

Systems engineering for advanced prototype sensor and communication systems.  Work may include concept development studies, design trades, requirements flow down, rebalancing requirements flow down throughout the course of development, planning and executing risk reduction testing, and assembly, integration and test.  A successful candidate will also be able to use their systems perspective to identify needed technology development efforts.  Systems are a mix of space, ground and airborne systems.  We expect small satellites, including cubesats, to be an increasing portion of the Group’s effort.

A Ph.D. in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related fields is desired; candidates with 5 + years of related experience and a Masters degree will also be considered.    Knowledge of both hardware and software systems will be helpful. A current Top Secret clearance would be helpful
