The Enterprise Architecture Office focuses on creating and documenting various business, data, application and technology models along with establishing foundational data management and business process management techniques to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Laboratory’s operations.  Under the Enterprise Research Computing portfolio, the Laboratory is interested in establishing an Enterprise DevSecOps platform. That work involves leveraging a variety of techniques to engage stakeholders, and employing a number of supporting tools to provide uniform software development practices. The position involves assessing the capabilities of some of the commonly used tools in the research community with a view to identify the best solution to the broadest group of software developers in the Laboratory.

 

Position Description

 

The DevSecOps coop will assist in piloting various DevSecOps pipelines, documenting the findings and preparing results to be published to the research community stakeholders. Various software development pipelines, container orchestration pipelines and Infrastructure As Code pipelines are planned to be piloted.

  • Ability to assist in the design of software development pipelines across various operating systems and programming languages
  • Ability to help find solutions for integration issues
  • Interest in exploring multiple technology options and identifying optimal solutions
  • System administration ability to support installation of DevSecOps tools
  • Collaboration skills including participating in technical discussions
  • Meet expected standards such as accuracy, thoroughness and correctness in all assigned work

 

Desired Skills

 

  • Basic understanding of various software development environments (Desktop, Web, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of programming languages (Java, C++, Python, etc.)
  • Scripting experience (preferably Python)
  • Basic understanding of Source Code Control System, CI/CD, Testing and Software Security

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in CS or a STEM related field

 

 

Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
