The Advanced Sensor Systems and Test Beds Group develops and demonstrates advanced sensor system and command and control concepts incorporating emerging signal and data processing algorithms, architectures and techniques. Major activities within the group include system concept development for RF and optical systems, modeling and simulation, signal processing algorithm design, RF and optical system design and development, experimental field testing and data analysis and development of one-of-a-kind operational and experimental test assets. The group has expertise in adaptive sensor array processing for both radar and communications, advanced real-time software techniques, signal detection and estimation, communications, and systems analysis. The group conducts a significant amount of field testing and data collection to prove new concepts and collaborates with other groups throughout the Laboratory for real-time prototype implementation, experiment execution, and systems analysis.
An RF Hardware and Systems engineer is needed to provide direction and vision in designing, building, and integrating advanced HF and microwave radar systems. The ideal candidate will have a broad background with relevant system design, but would also be capable of diving deep into one or more of the various aspects of design realization. The candidate must have an interest in exploring and developing innovative and cutting-edge technologies and apply them to the radar system’s design.
Position Requirements:
- MS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field. In lieu of an MS, a BA in the above areas with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of directly related experience will also be considered.
- Candidate must be able to obtain elevated level of security clearance that is provided by Security Services Department.
- 3 years or more of relevant design experience, hands-on system realization and field testing of HF and microwave radar systems.
- Candidate should have experience in several of the following fields:RF system integration, RF hardware design, RF component technology, digital hardware design, radar signal processing, or radar system technology.
- Candidate must have good organizational skills with the ability to complete assignments working independently and in a team environment, and effectively present/document results.
- Effective communication with colleagues, sponsors, and other research sites.
Desired Skills:
