The Cyber Physical Systems Group tackles key problems in the convergence of cybersecurity and the physical world in an interdisciplinary research and development environment. We conduct research to understand and leverage the cybersecurity implications of cyber-physical phenomena and develop first-of-their-kind prototypes for the Department of Defense, intelligence community, and federal agencies. We focus on cyber-physical sensing, cyber-physical effects, and red-teaming using techniques like building or applying advanced and novel sensors, digital processing, side-channel analysis, AI/ML, reverse engineering, system exploitation, and RF communications.
Job Overview:
MIT Lincoln Laboratory is seeking an expert in AI/ML with an additional background in signal processing, data modeling and analysis, and/or familiarity with RF engineering and software defined radio. The ideal candidate will be passionate about both predictive and generative AI, and eager to prototype and test new capabilities designed to function in resource-constrained environments: for example, in Size, Weight, and Power limited applications for warfighters at the tactical edge. Priority will go to curious individuals enthusiastic about quickly learning all necessary background to innovate in multiple new domains and contexts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement novel RF and Cyber prototype capabilities using AI/ML
- Communicate with key stakeholders to identify needs and operational constraints
- Develop realistic concepts of employment, and design metrics to test efficacy
- Design and execute operational testing to demonstrate suitability and survivability
- Explain highly technical concepts succinctly to senior audiences and non-specialist operators
- Self-direct efforts and eventually lead/mentor multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in AI/ML, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field
- Ability and willingness to achieve and maintain a Top Secret level security clearance
- High-level scripting languages, such as Python, and low-level languages, such as C
- Facility with version control software such as Git, and willingness to compute on Grid or Cluster
- Familiarity with preparation of datasets for AI applications
- Familiarity with industry-standard AI/ML implementations (e.g. CUDA)
- Strong oral and written communication skills, especially presenting technical concepts to varied audiences
- Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems both individually and on a team
- Significant initiative and ability to perform independent research, set, and meet critical milestones in a timely fashion
