Job Description

 

Assist with managing the operation of four wastewater pre-treatment systems and acid/hydride scrubbers, hazardous/universal waste management, maintaining spill response and PPE supplies, sourcing quotes, creating purchase orders, and submitting invoices, coordinating vendors and work orders, data reporting/record keeping, etc. Order and maintain inventories for gas and chemical stock rooms utilizing SAP software. Receive calls from Alarm Control and coordinate appropriate response. Create/maintain SOPs and JHAs for technician job tasks. Perform/participate in cross training activities. Participate in inspections performed by the MWRA, Mass DEP/EPA, and other relevant agencies. Provide support for project managers and guidance to lab community regarding wastewater systems, hazardous/universal waste management/disposal, and compressed/cryogenic gas equipment/usage.

 

Monday - Friday  7:30am - 3:30pm

 

 

Requirements

 


• Certifications in RCRA Hazardous Waste, OSHA 24-Hour HAZWOPER, DOT Hazmat, Mass DEP Wastewater Operator License Grade 2-I.

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or similar preferred.

• 2+ years of environmental experience.

• Strong leadership and management skills.

• Relevant work experience specific to a research and development laboratory/university setting.

• Ability to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate facilities work of substantial difficulty.

• Experience in supervising a union workforce, preferably in a laboratory/academic setting.

• Planning, financial management, organizational, and supervisory skills.

• Leadership of a diverse work team, with the ability to anticipate and determine resolutions to a variety of issues.

• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with a wide variety of internal personnel and outside vendors.
