The Interceptor and Sensor Technology Group supports the development of advanced sensor and interceptor technologies and for use in future surveillance, missile defense and air defense systems. The Group is currently supporting programs in the development of air and space-based visible and infrared sensors and state of the art hypersonic vehicle modeling frameworks that include advanced control, guidance, and interceptor technologies for missile defense. The group is also developing and evaluating seeker and missile system technology to counter hypersonic, cruise, and ballistic missile threats. These programs cover a range of activities including prototyping of advanced electro-optical sensors and algorithms, laboratory testing and phenomenology, mission simulations and modeling, field and flight tests, and data analysis and exploitation.

Job Description

The Interceptor and Sensor Technology Group is searching for a candidate to join or diverse sensor and interceptor technology teams bringing their unique perspectives in advanced algorithms, computer vision, AI/ML and apply them to our team’s problems. Current and previous programs include work in: visible and IR image analysis and classification, computer vision, sensor analysis, novel approaches utilizing robust AI/ML or adversarial learning in different applications, hypersonic vehicle design and flight dynamics, sensor analysis and modeling, flight vehicle guidance & navigation, and robotic control algorithms.

 

Our group works in a dynamic and collaborative environment that includes multi-disciplinary teams and analysis. Work categories include:

  • Analysis related to sensor design and image processing, development of algorithms to extract unique features and identification schema, developing innovative solutions, leveraging novel simulation frameworks and advanced modeling and simulation capabilities
  • Development of techniques to improve existing image processing algorithms, or prototype future sensor or algorithm concepts that enable new and impactful capabilities.
  • Employ novel control and robotics techniques and hardware designs and algorithm solutions for advanced sensor and autonomous controls for sensors or other systems. Prior examples include low cost bench top testing, in-house laboratory experimental prototypes, and full scale field testing and demonstration experiments.

Requirements

 

MS, or a BS with 2+ years relevant experience required. Academic Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or Optics.
