Associate Staff - Electrical Engineering / Software Engineering

The Rapid Prototyping Group focuses on delivering new advanced technology capabilities in timelines typically under a year.  Projects are conducted in a team environment consisting of various subject matter experts, and leverages resources from multiple groups to successfully execute fast-paced demonstration efforts. 

 

 

Specifically, the Group is seeking two Associate Staff candidates with experience in the design of embedded software, firmware, and analog/digital electronics. The candidate will work on a variety of projects developing complex and innovative data/power/control interfaces and solutions for a number of fielded sensor systems/payloads. Given the breadth of the work within the Group, we are looking for candidates for two different roles: an electrical engineering-centric role and a software-centric role. Some relevant skills for each role are provided below. 

 

 

The electrical-engineering-centric candidate should have the following skills (highest to lowest importance):

 

  • electronics design for
    • low power and battery operated systems
    • analog circuits & sensors
    • digital circuits, digital interfaces, sensors
  • embedded software development for microcontrollers
  • experience with
    • electro-optics,
    • RF sensors and communication protocols,
    • Printed Circuit Board (PCB) schematic capture and layout tools, 
    • NVidia Jetson GPU products, 
    • FPGAs

 

 

The software-centric candidate should have the following skills (highest to lowest importance): 

 

  • embedded software development for resource constrained microcontrollers
  • experience with 
    • code development,
    • compiling and cross-compiling in C/C++, C#, Java, Rust, Python,
    • software repositories and version control,
    • scripting languages,
    • compiling and installing Unix systems,
    • software deployment tools,
    • messaging protocols,
    • modeling and simulation tools,
    • FPGA firmware development,
    • NVidia Jetson GPU products and OpenCV or CUDA development. 

 

 

Education Requirement - Master's with 3+ years of experience, or BS with 5+ years of experience working with small engineering/software teams
