Position Description
The Benefits Representative is a key member of the Lincoln Laboratory Benefits team, responsible for supporting the administration of employee benefit programs and delivering high-quality service to employees and retirees. This role provides guidance across a range of benefits offerings, including health and welfare plans, leave and life events, wellness programs, and retirement-related benefits.
The Benefits Representative collaborates with HR colleagues, payroll, managers, and external partners to ensure accurate administration, regulatory compliance, and a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding benefit programs, including health and welfare, retirement, and wellness offerings.
- Support benefits enrollment processes such as new hire onboarding, annual open enrollment, and qualifying life events.
- Maintain accurate data and documentation within HR systems in compliance with institutional policies and applicable regulations.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to eligibility, coverage, claims, and general plan information.
- Maintain benefits records and assist with reporting, audits, and compliance activities.
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to resolve issues and enhance service delivery.
- Develop and distribute clear and accessible benefits communications and educational materials.
- Participate in employee education efforts, including orientations, informational sessions, and open enrollment activities.
- Provide general guidance and support to employees navigating benefit-related needs and life events, connecting them with appropriate resources.
- Contribute to process improvements and broader HR initiatives related to employee experience and engagement.
- Provide occasional in-person support for employee inquiries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in benefits administration, HR operations, or a related area.
- Working knowledge of employee benefits programs and applicable regulations (e.g., HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA).
- Familiarity with HR systems and benefits administration platforms.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across teams.
- Experience supporting employee communications, presentations, or training initiatives is a plus.
Work Arrangement
- This position follows a hybrid work model, combining on-site presence at Lincoln Laboratory with remote flexibility, based on business and team needs.
Hiring Range: $80,100 - $106,100
