Electro-Mechanical Sr. Technician

The Advanced Sensor Systems and Test Beds Group performs concept development, prototype design, analysis, and demonstrations of air defense radars and long-range ground based radar systems. Our group is seeking to hire a Senior Technician to work in our RF measurement laboratory. The successful candidate will work in a laboratory facility to build RF hardware. Duties will include:

  • assembly of antennas and microwave components
  • electronic assembly and wiring from schematics
  • assemble, test and troubleshoot microwave circuits, including electronic test equipment, antenna components, and RF cabling
  • mechanical assembly from drawings
  • working with machinist and fabrication personnel
  • occasional antenna tower climbing
  • light to moderate lifting of chassis and equipment with a maximum of 50 pounds
  • work under non-laboratory conditions (i.e. outdoor work)
  • direction and training of technicians with less experience
  • occasional travel for test activities, usually within the continental USA

The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with little to no supervision.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a two-year technical school or its equivalent, and at least 5 years of applicable experience is required
  • Applicant must possess outstanding skills in basic electronics from DC to microwave frequencies
  • Experience calibrating and using test equipment such as an RF network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, and RF power meters
  • Must have good “hands-on” skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Capable of effective communication with colleagues on a daily basis
