The Control and Autonomous Systems Engineering Group is focused on the synthesis of dynamic and complex control and autonomous systems, from concept to realization, for a wide variety of novel prototypes. Position Description
We are seeking an engineer to design electronics circuits and associated real-time software for a variety of programs. Hands-on team-based experience and a strong electronics hardware-software co-design or test background are critical. Work may involve using tools such as Mentor Graphics for electronics, and software development targeting both general purpose and real-time operating systems such as VxWorks, Xenomai, and real-time Linux.
Responsibilities:
- Design & develop high-reliability embedded software/hardware systems that control custom hardware and commercial test equipment
- Execute tests using software and hardware, develop post-processing scripts to help analyze acquired data and contribute to data analysis
Requirements
- BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering/Science with specific hands-on experience (can include internships) in one or more of the following: electronics circuit, firmware, software, or driver design and associated simulation and test
- Some hands-on experience with implementing & testing embedded real-time hardware-software systems for motion control
- Knowledge of schematic capture tools such as Mentor, circuit simulation tools such as PSpice, or software/firmware languages such as C/C++, VHDL, Python, or Matlab
- Use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform generators, spectrum or logic analyzers for software-hardware test & debugging
- Excellent written, verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with other team members
