Embedded AI Processing Engineer
Date: May 28, 2023
Location: Lexington, MA, US
Company: MIT Lincoln Laboratory
The Embedded and Open Systems Group conducts research to design, develop, and deploy next generation high-performance real-time embedded processing systems for use on air, ground, and sea-based platforms located at the tactical edge. We design these systems using diverse computational elements in support of applications including sensing, communications, and artificial intelligence. Hardware, software, mathematical, and security expertise are blended to optimize these low-power solutions. We succeed by participating in all program phases including system analysis, architecture definition, design, prototyping, field testing, and ultimately the transfer of our technology to operational systems.
Position Description
We are looking for talented individuals who are passionate about the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital signal processing and embedded systems. In this position you will be a key contributor to one or more technical teams that design and implement next generation signal intelligence, communication and radar systems. Work involves research and development of state-of-the art artificial intelligence techniques, algorithmic complexity analysis and ultimately integration and implementation of these capabilities onto embedded processing systems.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields. In lieu of a Master’s degree, a Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of directly related experience will be considered
- Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques and their computational acceleration
- Proven experience and background in two or more of these technical areas: artificial intelligence, computer architecture, digital design, embedded software development, and digital signal processing
- Development experience with one or more of processing technologies such as microprocessors, FPGAs, GPUs
- Proven experience with multiple high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, Matlab)
- Ability to organize and present experimental data using visualization tools
- Effective written and oral communications skills within multi-disciplinary technical team environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government (DoD) security clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
You will stand out if you demonstrate any of the following:
- Solid understanding of fundamental artificial intelligence concepts, especially in the context of their implementation on embedded platforms
- Experience with DoD radar, electronic warfare, or RF communications systems
- Experience with real-time digital signal processing and/or linear algebra techniques and their mapping to advanced computational elements
- Experience with embedded system-related programming including microprocessors, Systems on Chip, and sensor interfaces
- Experience with industry standard design tools
- Experience with multiple prototyping tools/languages/operating systems
- Current in scope Secret or Top-Secret level DoD security clearance
