The Cyber Physical Systems Group tackles key problems in the convergence of cybersecurity and the physical world in an interdisciplinary research and development environment. We conduct research to understand and leverage the cybersecurity implications of cyber-physical phenomena and develop first-of-their-kind prototypes for the Department of Defense, intelligence community, and federal agencies. We focus on cyber-physical sensing, cyber-physical effects, and red-teaming using techniques like building or applying advanced and novel sensors, digital processing, side-channel analysis, AI/ML, reverse engineering, system exploitation, and RF communications.
Job Description
The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team as an engineering assistant to staff members on multiple communication and sensing programs. The successful candidate should be willing to develop new expertise in the pursuit of solving unconventional problems. Projects will focus on prototype applications and hardware in the wireless domain. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development, lab testing, and field testing of prototype communication and sensing systems, while managing the day-to-day operations of the Mobile Device Lab.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be someone who is inquisitive and organized, takes ownership of their work, solves challenging problems independently, and retains a sense of urgency to meet project deadlines. We are looking for candidates with innovative and energetic personalities who are willing to explore new ideas in the lab.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electronic systems
- Experience with electrical and mechanical concepts pertaining to RF transmitters and receivers
- Experience installing, deploying, and testing electronics equipment and systems
- RF/Microwave lab skills with proficiency in the operation of lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, multi-meter, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, digitizer, arbitrary waveform generator, synthesizer, etc.)
- Experience documenting designs and test results as well as keeping records of development, procurements, and shipments
- An Associates Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience in the field
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with radio-frequency (RF) phenomenology and systems
- An interest in field test deployments and experiment design
- Experience providing technical support and advice to colleagues
Hiring Range: $87,700 - $121,000
