Position Summary

The Financial Services Department (F$D) is seeking a Financial Analyst who will compile and analyze financial data and transactions and help build reports in support of the Operations Group. Reporting to the Financial Manager, the focus is on internal auditing/quality control checks of existing and future reports, purchase orders and associated data. Assists 6 other managers with forecasts and analysis. Build and refine financial models for use with data calls, monthly reports and routine updates on funding, program execution, agreements and partner funding.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support Financial Manager with program closeouts, auditing field site and capital software charges, routine audits of procurements to include proper allocation of burden rules and ceiling exclusions, production of annual NSF and NASA Industry surveys and assist with managing Technical Excellence Awards funding.
  • Work with the Senior Financial Analyst to process daily funding activities with the Air Force finance and contracting office. Review program sponsor funding documents, maintain contract modification files. Review anticipated funding prior to posting ‘funds on base’. Maintain program POC info. Track programs in deficit and coordinate for remediation. Assist the Funding Manager in building the weekly Director’s Office funding charts. Assist with processing new program start packages, active program Period of Performance and Total Estimated Cost increases. Assist with monthly reports as needed.
  • Assist the Capital Projects Office Business Manager in modeling off-prime contract program revenue which includes funding and surcharges to partners. Build monthly partner reports that show the financial health of the program and explanations of overhead expenses. Assist with the maintenance of the Off Contract files to include coordination with Contracting Services Department. Monitor and project the account balances for the lab’s working capital fund and MIT Line of Credit. Help with procurement and daily contract administration of CPO/FMP projects.
  • Assist with the financial analysis, reporting, and operations for 6 Director’s Office Business Managers to include the Technology Office (and OSD Line Funding and Technical Allocated), Diversity & Inclusion, Technical Communications, Knowledge Services, Communications and Community Outreach and Crystal City field site.
  • Work with the Intelligence Business Manager on the receipt and reporting of intelligence funding to include sponsor certifications. Help maintain the intelligence portfolio for current year funding and the history files. Build and distribute sponsor reports. Build charts to show status of funds, program history and forecasts.
  • Other special projects and analysis as required


  • Bachelor’s degree is required (Business/Finance/Management degree or related experience necessary)
  • Minimum 3 years of financial management experience
  • Ability to analyze and present financial data in a relatable manner
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced MS Excel skills to include modeling, graphing, table manipulation
  • SAP proficiency preferred
  • Understanding of MIT Lincoln Laboratory financial policies and procedures is a plus
  • Able to work independently and problem solve
  • Excellent customer service attitude
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to track multiple ongoing projects
