Group 31--Summer Research Program Intern

Date: Jan 29, 2023

Location: Lexington, MA, US

Company: MIT Lincoln Laboratory

To protect our nation, deployed forces, and allies in air, missile, and maritime engagements, our group defines future defense architectures, develops new algorithms, and identifies applications for new technologies to enhance the United States’ defenses against potential threats. Our staff members analyze all aspects of defense systems, including radar, infrared and laser sensors, satellites, and interceptors. We also look at the software and algorithms that enable these systems to search, track, identify, and intercept missiles, and inform decisions about battle management. We assess how adversaries might attempt to counter these systems, both physically and electronically.  Finally, we propose and evaluate new technologies and architectures to help maintain robust US capabilities in the future.

The successful candidate will contribute analysis to mature existing elements and to assess future concepts. Activities may include scientific programming, system modeling and analysis, the creation of simulation tools, and analysis of algorithm performance.

Successful candidate should be pursuing a degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or similar technical field. Experience with MATLAB, Python, C, or C++ is desired.

Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
