What do we do in the Cyber Operations and Analysis Technology Group?

 

The Cyber Operations and Analysis Technology Group develops technology and performs analysis to impactfully improve overall cyber security postures and support operational decision making within the cyber domain and across traditional mission areas. Our technology focus areas include: system analysis, mathematical modelling, metrics development; designing and developing security architectures and technology; machine learning and advanced analytics; sensemaking and human-machine teaming.

 

Projects are carried out by small, focused, cooperative teams that succeed together by participating in all phases of technical solution development, including systems analysis, innovative solution design, system architecture, solution prototyping and field-testing, and final technology transfer to Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) sponsors or industry. The group comprises computer scientists, mathematicians, machine learning researchers and practitioners, system analysts, software developers and security architects who firmly believe they can improve the security of the nation.

Job Description

As a summer research intern, you will help our group create advanced technologies for ensuring security and resiliency of next-generation mission-critical and/or cyber operational systems. You will perform analysis, develop technology, and/or build software. As a member of a research team, you will work with a principal investigator and other seasoned researchers, have considerable autonomy and independence on your research tasks, but also many collaborative work opportunities. Candidates should be working toward a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Security, Math, Data Science, or AI, or a related field.

 

Experience in the following is required:

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of technical team
  • Demonstrated interest in cyber security or cyber operations
  • Interest in and ability to analyze a problem including collecting and evaluating data and presenting your analysis and findings to the rest of the team
  • Experience with Proficiency in Python, Java, or similar

 

Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
