The Tactical Space Systems Group (Group 96) develops technologies and prototypes to enhance the performance and resilience of U.S. space systems and to provide flexible new space capabilities to the U.S. Government. The Group executes both large-scale system prototypes including satellite payloads and ground systems, as well as earlier stage technology development and demonstration programs with partner groups across the laboratory. The group is predominantly composed of scientists and engineers with expertise in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, electronics and software/firmware.

JOB DESCRIPTION


Group 96 is seeking a summer intern who can help to contribute to the group’s portfolio of novel space systems. Activities may include systems engineering, component testing, assembly, integration and test flow planning and execution, and development of ground support equipment and documentation. You will be working with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and software and hardware engineers developing a first-of-kind space payload.

REQUIRED SKILLS

 

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in engineering or a related technical field.
  • At least 2 years of undergraduate study (or equivalent) prior to employment.
  • Relevant coursework, interest, and experience with at least one of the following areas: aerospace engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

 

Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
