The Advanced Undersea Systems and Technology Group develops innovative undersea and undersea-enabled capabilities for transition to operational systems of the US Navy and other Department of Defense (DoD) sponsors. Focus areas include acoustic and non-acoustic sensors, undersea networks, autonomous systems, and advanced signal processing algorithms. The group performs rigorous systems analyses, develops system architectures, and builds prototypes to demonstrate the viability and effectiveness of new concepts, capabilities, and processing techniques. In addition, the group provides undersea domain and technology expertise to inform and motivate novel cross-domain concept development.
Job Description
The Group Business Manager will be a key member of the Air, Missile and Maritime Defense Technology business team for financial and operational management of a large research and development group with a focus on our Advanced Undersea Systems and Technology program portfolio.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the group’s management team responsible for the execution of the day-to-day group business operations. The Group Business Manager will develop and maintain a detailed situational awareness of the group’s funding and execution, generate financial reports, and provide research to support projects and proposals. Specific responsibilities may include cost estimating, budget preparation, program/WBS creation, performance monitoring, internal reporting and sponsor communications. Additional responsibilities will include space management, procurement management, property management and other miscellaneous tasks. The candidate will also support group management with HR related actions for recruitment and employment and provide a supervisory role for the Group Administrative Assistants and other administrative personnel. Once integrated into the new role, the Group Business Manager may further optimize productivity with a flexible work arrangement and up to two days of work from home per week.
Required Education/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field is required, MS/MBA preferred.
- Five to eight years’ applicable experience beyond degree is required.
- The candidate must possess an understanding of transactional, financial, and government processes with strong analytical and estimating techniques.
- The candidate must have working level familiarity with computer-based financial management tools and experience with Microsoft Office including advanced Excel functions.
- Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system is desired.
- Experience interfacing with sponsors from Government and industry is desired
- Ability to analyze, discuss, and present financial results/reports
- Ability to create database files and pivot tables
- Comfort working with various Excel functions (e.g. VLOOKUP, SUMIF, etc.)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Hiring Range: $98,400 - $130,200
