The Homeland Sensors and Analytics Group builds technology to counter threats to our critical infrastructure, land and maritime borders, transportation systems, and public places, and to enable US forces to disrupt transnational criminal and terrorist organizations.  We focus on the development and fielding of advanced sensors, AI and data analytics, and integrated human-machine decision making to help monitor and characterize these threats.  We specialize in prototyping new sensor technologies as well as collecting and processing a wide range of data types — including radar, video, imagery, text, point cloud, transactional, and body-worn sensor data — from both commercial and Laboratory-developed sensors. Job Description

 

Our group is looking for motivated mid-level (or higher) researchers and engineers who would like to address critical problems requiring RF transceiver design, including cellular architecture with special emphasis on LTE as part of collaborative, interdisciplinary teams.  Specifically, the candidate will perform LTE or related systems TX/RX simulation and architecture analysis, design requirement analysis, provide specifications for TX/RX HW/SW, characterize existing LTE systems, as well as prototype TX/RX sub-component and perform end-to-end test and evaluation. This position will provide the opportunity to contribute to the development of novel RF transceivers and LTE systems as part of a larger diverse team including electrical, software/firmware, and mechanical engineers.

 

 

Requirements

 

  • MS +3 years or BS +5 years of proven experience in RF transceiver design, including cellular architectures, specifically LTE
  • Expertise in cellular systems TX concepts and architecture, waveform modulation, linearizer control, supply voltage modulation, digital pre-distortion
  • Working familiarity with 3GPP LTE standard and experience with design, validation, and testing of LTE base station equipment and systems, preferably hardware in the loop
  • Excellent understanding of RF propagation principles and RF transceiver components. Must be able to independently configure and perform testing on physical hardware as well as use arbitrary waveform generators and real time spectrum analyzer for data capture and analysis
  • Experience with RF modeling tools for active and passive RF circuit design (i.e. ADS or Microwave Office, and HFSS, CST, or Feko,).
  • Experience with using MATLAB for basic signal processing applications and data analysis
