Job Summary


The Senior IT Project Manager- HR will lead Human Resources Department in a large-scale effort to digitize and modernize its systems and processes. As part of the Laboratory’s Digital Enterprise Transformation initiative, the candidate will partner with the Business Transformation Office (BTO) to evaluate HR’s current Human Capital Management (HCM) systems – as well as other SaaS and hybrid options. The candidate will also participate in various other projects to modernize the technology landscape within HR, as well as proactively identify areas where systems and processes can be improved. The candidate should have a strong project management background, complemented by process improvement and business analysis skills.


•Lead ongoing evaluations of HR system landscape and HCM systems, engaging with stakeholders across the Laboratory to define requirements to lead to the design and implementation of solutions
•Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Business Transformation Office (BTO), the Information Services Department (ISD), Laboratory business units, and vendors
•Serve as primary liaison between HR and the BTO; responsible for communicating HR system evaluation/implementation updates throughout project lifecycle
•Assess functionality of available Human Capital Management (HCM) systems and feasibility of implementing at MIT LL. Lead any projects that result from this assessment.
•Analyze current HR processes, identify gaps in existing processes/systems, and lead resolution projects
•Recommend business process and system modifications to enhance and refine the capabilities of HR systems
•Actively applies project management methodologies and best practices to HR initiatives
•May lead or assist in other large-scale projects to include analysis of new business requirements, assessment of various methods of approach, and implementation of solutions(s) within the existing business system architecture or new SaaS system


•Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or IT related field required, Master’s degree preferred
•A minimum of ten years of Project Management experience, including significant experience leading HCM related projects is required
•Prior business systems analysis experience required, including requirements gathering through implementation large-scale IT systems
•Prior experience with Human Capital related systems preferred; experience with SAP desired
•Must have ability to respond under tight deadlines and prioritize deliverables while maintaining quality of work products
•Able to efficiently prioritize work and timely inform stakeholders on the progress
•Must have experience integrating and executing communications and change management aspects of projects
•Must be able to work independently as well as contribute to collaborative team efforts
•Exhibits strong analytical thinking and methodical problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
•Excellent written, presentation, and documentation skills are required
