Senior Technical Leader - Digital Health, Clinical Informatics & AI

Date: Mar 4, 2026

Location: Lexington, MA, US

Company: MIT Lincoln Laboratory

The Bioanalytics Systems & Technologies Group develops advanced analytics and AI/ML capabilities that leverage rapidly expanding biological and health data to address critical U.S. national security and health missions. Our work supports military operational medicine, force health protection, and readiness assessment across peacetime, contingency, and deployed environments, as well as high-impact, civilian public health and biomedical security missions. We focus on human-centered/use-inspired research and development, translating advanced analytics, digital health technologies, and AI methods into systems that can be rigorously evaluated, trusted, and transitioned to operational stakeholders.

Job Description

We are seeking a senior technical leader in digital health, AI, and clinical informatics to lead and expand our digital health data and AI portfolio supporting military and civilian populations. This role is intended for an experienced technical leader who can provide technical direction, mentor teams, and drive execution, while advancing high-impact technologies from concept through transition.

In this role, you will define and execute mission-aligned technical initiatives that integrate AI methods across heterogeneous health and biological data modalities, including physiological signals, wearable and sensor data, omics, and electronic health records. You will lead and execute efforts that emphasize rapid prototyping, milestone-driven progress, rigorous evaluation, and transition readiness, enabling the development of scalable and trustworthy AI systems for high-consequence health and national security applications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical direction and subject-matter expertise for digital health and AI efforts aligned with U.S. government priorities in biotechnology, biomedical systems, and chemical and biological defense
  • Leading and mentoring multidisciplinary teams—including clinicians, scientists, engineers, and analysts—through hands-on technical leadership and design reviews
  • Contributing to the design and execution of programs that balance innovation with operational realism, including defining technical milestones, success metrics, and transition considerations
  • Supporting proposal development and sponsor engagement as a senior technical contributor and co-lead, as appropriate
  • Guiding data strategy, AI lifecycle management, and evaluation activities, including assessment and validation of commercial and government off-the-shelf (COTS/GOTS) AI/ML technologies in operationally realistic settings
  • Collaborating across the Laboratory and with external partners to ensure technical solutions are responsive to user needs and suitable for adoption at scale

The successful candidate will bring a demonstrated ability to operate at the intersection of advanced analytics, digital health technologies, and mission-driven application, with strong technical judgment and the ability to communicate effectively with clinicians, engineers, and government stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as Medicine (MD or DO), Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with preference for experience supporting operational medicine, force readiness, military health systems, or other high-consequence health missions, alongside digital health, informatics, or AI/ML
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and mentoring multidisciplinary teams on complex, mission-oriented efforts
  • This position is onsite only
