The Optical/Quantum Communication Technology Group develops impactful classical and quantum technologies and system prototypes for use in a wide range of challenging environments including terrestrial, space and underwater applications.
Primary areas of research include the development of novel entangled-photon source technologies; sensitive, single-photon receivers; multi-format modems; robust and compact optical beam directors; precision beam pointing, link acquisition and tracking systems; and novel modulation and coding approaches.
Job Description:
Tasks may include conducting field experiments and data collects, analyzing test data, developing test plans, or developing and presenting proposals to potential Sponsors. The staff member will have opportunities to develop concepts for, and to participate in, research and development seedling projects, with opportunities to collaborate with university researchers.
Requirements:
- PhD or MS +5 years of experience in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, physics, computer science, or mathematics
- Strong design and analytical skills in communications, optics and electro-optics, signal processing, navigation systems, or control systems
- Familiarity with any of the following disciplines: astronomy, aerospace engineering, platform integration, numerical simulation and analysis tools, scripting languages, embedded systems, automation, autonomous systems, vision systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, atmospheric science, computational or experimental fluid dynamics, and aero-optic effects.
- Strong communication skills
