The Cyber Systems and Operations Group focuses on enabling full-scope DoD, IC, and civilian government operations within the cyber domain and across traditional mission domains and sensing layers. Our focus is research and development of systems providing situational awareness (SA) and command and control (C2) in the cyber domain. Key technology development thrusts include novel sensors, actuators, sense-making, decision support, knowledge representation, Human Machine Interface (HMI), visualization, automated planning, and cloud-based information sharing architectures. We integrate these capabilities into secure, resilient, cost-effective information sharing architectures in support of effective mission operations. Group strengths include software development, significant testbed infrastructure, and connections to challenges, people, systems and data from multiple operational communities. Overall, we seek to leap ahead of evolving cyber threats and enable comprehensive and secure use of the cyber domain.

Responsibilities:

The Cyber Systems and Operations Group seeks a Student Technical Assistant to support existing design and development efforts within the field of data analytics as well as support research in the establishment of a resilient distributed information architecture within the Lincoln Research Network Operations Center (LRNOC). Prospective candidate will:

  • Perform code development and testing for data pipelines
  • Conduct research and development into big data curation techniques
  • Prototype the integration of research tools with open-source technologies and commercial tools (e.g. Splunk, QRadar, Wireshark).

 

Training/briefing experience is desired. Candidate must have excellent follow-up and problem solving skills.

 

Requirements:

  • Active participation in an accredited bachelor’s / master's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another related field.
  • Experience working with a high-level programming language such as Python or C/C++, as well as experience working within a Linux environment.
  • Demonstrated capability in presenting ideas written and orally within a cross-functional environment.
  • The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment investigation.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a government (DoD) security clearance is required.
