Group Description
The Fabrication Engineering Group provides rapid fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing of advanced hardware prototypes for national security applications. Examples include the precision machining fiber mounts for airborne high-energy laser systems, multi-functional structures using additive processes for ground-based radar systems, custom printed circuit boards (PCBs) for space-borne data processing, and highly integrated mechanical packaging for undersea communication terminals. Core mechanical competencies span precision fabrication, additive manufacturing, and 5-axis machining. The group concentrates on high-complexity parts, quick-turn capabilities, and activities that require concurrent engineering with program teams. Core PCB capabilities include design for manufacturability (DFM), automated solder paste dispensers, precise pick-n-place machines, and automated optical inspection systems. Assembly, integration, and test capabilities include integration spaces, clean rooms, vibration testing, thermal testing, and space simulation chambers. The Group focuses on state-of-the-art prototyping capabilities, technical excellence, exceptional collaboration, and outstanding operation.
Job Description
An individual who assists in laboratory, research, or analytical work under direction or supervision of scientific personnel. Performs technical and intricate tasks with some supervision. Perform various tasks of a skilled or semi-skilled nature using a wide range of materials and equipment. Perform various chemical, coating, bonding, and painting operations:
- Must have a positive attitude with great attention to detail
- Work with a wide variety of adhesives, solvents, paints, and conformal coating
- Demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and drawings
- Requires the use of balance scales for proper mixing ratios
- For certain applications respirators may be required and will be individually supplied
- Some work may be required in a Cleanroom so proper gowning up may be required
- Knowledge of ESD and concepts desired due to handling, coating and staking operations with printed circuit boards.
- Experience with UV Conformal Coating (Dymax 9771) or standard Arathane 5750 is preferable.
- Experience with an Instron 5982 Universal Force Testing Equipment desired
- Experience with NASA-STD-8739.1 Workmanship Standard for Polymeric applications desired
- Perform addition Chemical Technician duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Graduation from a two year day technical school or equivalent and a minimum of two years of applicable experience required
- Ability to work in a team environment with excellent organizational skills.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) are essential.
Hiring Range: $38.53 - $42.92
